Stone Table Review is an online journal publishing new works in traditional or new media formats by emerging and established writers in October and April of each year. We look for work that contributes something significant to the ongoing human discourse—work that brings something to the table, as it were—and all voices and styles are considered equally.
STR is not affiliated with any organization and is not supported by subscriptions. Each issue is a labor of love, driven by the editors’ desire to let sincere and talented voices be heard. All readers are invited to sit, read, and converse freely.
We are now accepting submissions for our third issue to be launched in October 2007. Review our submission guidelines and send your fiction, poetry, essay, drama, or new media to editors@stonetabler eview.com by September 15, 2007.
Cosmic Agreement – A Note from an Editor
Posted in Uncategorized on April 16, 2007 by ronsamulby Mary Cahill – Prose Editor Miranda Literary Magazine.
I took a course taught by Ron Samul last spring. He was just putting together his first edition of Miranda Magazine and asked if I would like to edit and review stories. I love to read so I thought this would be a fun project in which to to be involved.
Little did I realize I would be reading hundreds of stories and essays. He set me up with a Yahoo account and the fun started. Every morning I sit down with my coffee and open my e-mail and there they are. Stories reminescent of the Disney Cartoon of the Sorccerer’s Apprentice pop up..
They come from India, Australia, Tunisia, Canada and the USA. They are so varied and interesting I can lose myself for the whole morning. I want to assure you that every story is read by Ron and I and the other readers. I enjoy knowing that so many people are out there writing.
I am a writer and I know how important it is to have an audience to read your work.
How do we pick the stories we put in the magazine? I make a list of the ones I like best, and the stories I like but I’m not sure about. After all this Ron and I get together to discuss the submissions. At this point a very strange thing happens. We both have picked the same submissions. I kid you not. To a story, we are always in agreement. So what does this mean? Beats me. But I guess when its great writing you know it. The characters seem real, the dialogue works, the stories are not predictable.
So, I want to thank you for all the pleasure I get from reading your work. Please continue to submit and know that your work is read and most importantly enjoyed.
